About
Chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disc, and has been used in the Hindu tradition for 3000+ years to describe the spinning spheres of bio-energetic activity emanating from the human spinal column.
There are seven major chakra points, starting at the base of the spine moving up to the crown. Each chakra interacts with the physical body close to where it emanate from, and therefore specific bodily functions are directly related to each chakra.
Each Chakra has a range of vibrational frequencies associated with it, hence specific crystals, colours (light), and sounds can be used to treat them.
A healthy Chakra is free to spin around and to open and close like the petals of a flower. It serves to process energy information from the surrounding environment and to emit energy from the body into the environment. It is our energy communication system.
Our Chakras are an important part of our body's communication system. With practice you can learn to feel or see this energy, sometimes known as the aura.
On the most basic level, most people are aware of 'bad vibes' if they walk into a room where other people are stressed or angry. Strong negative energy is being projected which you can sense through your Chakras.
A healthy body allows energy to pass about it freely. However Chakras can be damaged over time or could have developed incorrectly from birth. Chakras energy can be excessive or deficient, causing energy disturbances which manifest into physical dis-ease.
